Villa del Palmar Cancun is our favorite resort in Cancun AND our favorite Villa Group resort (so far). For our 3rd trip to Cancun, we decided to take the kids along. It was our first time travelling internationally and I wasn’t sure how it would go. But they did AMAZING!
The kids loved the resort: they went kayaking, made bracelets, and searched for seashells. The beach at Villa del Palmar Cancun is absolutely breathtaking: the waves are calm (due to Isla Mujeres and a coral reef creating natural barriers) and the kids can safely swim in the ocean there.
There was music by the pool, shows at night, activities throughout the day and plenty for us to do at the resort. My favorite self-care activity was yoga on the pier. All other yoga classes no longer compare to this experience.
We took a ferry over to Isla Mujeres and explored the island. There were shops, markets, and authentic restaurants that didn’t have the feel of the big tourist locations. The island was small (a 15 minute golf cart ride would cover the length of it), but amazing and full of local experiences.
Isla Mujeres boasts beautiful beaches (Playa Norte), snorkeling tours, a sculpture garden on the South end (Punta Sur), dolphin encounters AND a sea turtle sanctuary. I have been there twice now and have not made it to the sea turtle sanctuary yet, it is on my list for next time.
Overall, if you are looking for a fantastic family vacation (or romantic getaway) that is a little less crazy than the hustle and bustle of the hotel zone. We love this resort in northern Cancun and highly recommend visiting Isla Mujeres.
